After 12 years in San Francisco, Affairs of the Vine has partnered with the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa to bring the 13th Annual Pinot Noir Summit to the high country of the Sierra and the spectacular Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno on July 25th.

Join us for The 13th Annual Pinot Noir Summit, the culmination of the Pinot Noir Shootout competition, the largest competition of Pinot Noirs in the wine industry. Over 450 Pinot Noirs have been evaluated by the Affairs of the Vine judging panel. The two day Pinot Noir Summit will celebrate and recognize the top wines and producers from the 13th Pinot Noir Shootout.

On Saturday, July 25th, a full schedule of events and tastings is planned. The Pinot Noir Summit, recognized by Vinography as being “distinctly different” than other tasting events, begins with a series of seminars that will delve into the heart and soul of this unique varietal, followed by a Pinot Pairing Luncheon hosted by winemakers who will circulate as they sample their wines with guests.

The afternoon will be highlighted by the incredibly popular and unique Pinot Noir Challenge Tasting. Attendees blind taste 40 of the top wines selected by the professional judging panel. Male and female votes are tallied separately. The results are announced and winners recognized at the gala Grand Tasting & Awards Ceremony in the evening. Wineries will showcase their award winning Pinot Noirs and other wines they produce. A selection of Pinot-friendly hors d’oeuvre will be served.

13th Annual Pinot Noir Summit

Workshops:11:00am to Noon    Two workshops to run concurrently. 

Seminar Options:

• Discover the Velvet: A Vertical Tasting ~ Pinot Noir producers will share two to three vintages of Pinot Noir, showing the development of the seductiveness of this wonderful grape that develops with time in the bottle.
• Pinot Noir: The Wine That Speaks the Loudest from the Vineyard ~Winemakers from five premier appellations will discuss the capacity of Pinot Noir to reflect unique characteristics of environment and site. Each winemaker will present a single wine to taste that best reflects and demonstrates the unique aspects of their region and/or particular site. 

Flat Bread Pairing Lunch: 12:15pm-1:30pm

A casual lunch featuring flat breads with toppings paired to be paired with “anything Pinot” including Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Meunier, or Sparkling which includes Pinot Noir or Pinot Meunier in the cuvee. Winemakers will circulate sharing tastes of their wines.

Wine Lovers Pinot Noir Challenge ~ A Blind Tasting: 1:30pm-4:00pm  Emerald Meeting Rooms

Guests will blind taste a selection of the top-rated wines from the 13th Annual Pinot Noir Shootout in the Blind Tasting. Each guest will taste the selected wines and pit their palates against the expert panel

Grand Awards Tasting & Ceremony: 6:30pm-9:30pm 

• Wineries will showcase their Pinot Noirs and other key varietals/wines that they produce. Meet the winemakers and discuss one on one their approach and philosophy to winemaking. 
• The final results of the both the professional judging of the 13th Annual Pinot Noir Shootout and the results from the Wine Lovers Blind Tasting will be announced at 8:00pm. 
• Food selections will include specially paired hors d'oeuvre.
